Here are descriptions of a few of our workshop we offer. They could be used as a stand alone program or as a break out session in a conference or as an element of a customized leadership retreat:
You Got Games
In this high energy, completely interactive program, you’ll learn to lead all kinds of icebreakers and team builders that will add energy and life to your meetings, retreats, workshops and presentations. You’ll discover techniques to encourage participants to step out of their comfort zones, have some fun, and create a lively and connected community. We’ll discuss the subtleties of getting people to ‘buy in’ to your activities while letting go of their inhibitions and fully immersing themselves in the moment. In addition, you’ll easily be able to transfer those skills to others, enabling them to do the same. In the end, you’ll receive a fantastic list of games and icebreakers.
Take a deep breath…and relax.
Does school stress you out? That’s a rhetorical question because being a student is exciting yet often stressful.
Come learn ways to relax and rejuvenate that are completely healthy and stimulant-free.
Topics will include nutrition, sleep needs, and exercise tips, all based on brain-based learning models.
You’ll also learn and experience a technique that will allow you to be deep asleep within 30 seconds of your head hitting the pillow.
And you’ll learn to breathe properly in the process.
Break on Through
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Best described as an experience, not just another program, this session has the potential to change your life. Break through whatever is holding you back, and get ready to make your dreams become reality. Long before the days of being political correct, Cicero (c. 106-43 B.C.) said “Man is his own worst enemy;” it is likely Cicero would now include women, college students, and college professionals to this well-known saying. We can be our “own worst enemy” when we let self-imposed barriers and obstacles stand in the way of achieving our dreams. What stops us from achieving our goals sometimes are matters outside of our control, but, ultimately, we have much more power over whether our dreams become reality than we think.
Be the Change
Words affect you physically, emotionally, cognitively... whether you want them too or not. You might have heard that positive self-talk is important, but have you really known why? We delve deep into why words have power. You’ll understand the chemistry/biology and science behind this. You’ll become more conscious of the words you use. Being more purposeful in your communication makes for a more powerful presence and a deeper connection.
You’ll learn a new way to reach out and connect with people- a way that accelerates the level of connection.
Also, not only will you realize the impact of your self-talk, you’ll also understand the impact of your words on others.
Builders, Boomers, Xers, Nexters, and Millennials: Multiple Generations working together on Campus
Can Boomers and Xers ever see eye to eye? How do you motivate a Millennial, anyway? If you have generational differences on campus, you might have generational conflicts as well.
More than any other time in history we have four generations all working together. Also, not only are most of the students Millennials, but every day more and more are joining the work force with you on campus.
This insightful, interactive, and eye-opening program will help you determine who the generations are at your campus, how generational differences in values and work philosophies influence productivity and morale, and what you can do to capitalize on the strengths of each generation.
Bonus sessions presented by Karin Malkowski Stende:
Who’s Hot/Who’s Not
How does the issue of power influence relationships? Perceived power, real power, in group/out group, stereotyping, cliques, gangs…we'll examine all of these important aspects in detail during this high-impact module. Games and activities allow participants to experience varying levels of power and how power affects their lives, resulting in a greater awareness and acceptance of the diversity that exists on campus and in the world.
How Could You Say That?
The words we say to ourselves and others can be powerful, sometimes affecting us for a lifetime. Through an interactive exercise, you'll experience the power of negative and positive words emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Learn and practice communication skills like active listening, reframing, and the art of criticism. This skills-based module will give you at least three different communication models you can begin using immediately to clean up conflict. Additionally, we'll have opportunities for “in the moment” coaching, where you'll use the tools taught in the program during role plays or to help clean up any existing conflict within the group.
You’re Right, They’re Wrong: How to Fix the Relationships in Your Life
Do relationships stress you out? What makes some relationships strong and healthy while others fall apart right after “hello”? No, we’re not going to teach you how to fix other people, but you will learn easy ways to figure out for yourself how you show up in relationships, and to use that insight to make your relationships stronger, better, and longer lasting. Learn to create the relationships you’ve always wanted.
Your [College] Life Is Now
(Non-traditional student program)
Whether you are a traditional age student, a nontraditional student, or a commuter student, college can be an exciting and often overwhelming adventure. In this content-rich, fun program, you will discover ways to keep motivated to stay in school, no matter what type of student you are. Learn to integrate study time, personal life, and involvement on campus to make your college experience richer and better. Uncover the four critical elements necessary for learning and how to manage them. You’ll leave with study skills secrets, test taking tips, and body-smart practices based on brain research that will leave you energetic and enthused about your college lifestyle.
Break on Through Testimonial:
Hi Troy,
I was at a Leadership retreat you ran in February in Sorrento, BC for Thompson Rivers University leadership group. I would really like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to change what I thought about myself. It was the board breaking that really has affected me. Going 1st in front of the group was a huge step for me alone - but in breaking that board, I found a whole other barrier I hadn't even noticed.
As a petite girl, a part of me felt I couldn't break the board - simply because I am smaller. And although it took me many tries, I did break it. And I learned - I am strong, physically, mentally, & emotionally. Thank you for helping me see this.
Sincerely,
Caitlin![]()
