Increasing Student Retention

Texas A & M Univ Commerse          WesternWyoming

We offer compelling programs & strategies for engaging & retaining today’s college student. From keynotes to ice breakers to a semester-long program series, our goal is to help you increase your retention rate. We want students to stay engaged and stay to graduate.

STUDENT CONNECTION = STUDENT SUCCESS = STUDENT RETENTION

Students are more likely to succeed when they feel a connection to school. According to Robert W. Blum, school connectedness not only increases the likelihood of academic success, it also reduces the likelihood of student engagement in health-compromising behaviors (Blum, R. W. A case for school connectedness. Educational Leadership, April 2005, p. 16-19.) Blum cites research supporting the belief that students who feel connected to school are less likely to "use substances, exhibit emotional distress, demonstrate violent or deviant behavior, experience suicidal thoughts or attempt suicide and become pregnant" and are more likely to "succeed academically and graduate" (p. 17). Although Blum's research deals mostly with adolescents, it is possible and probable that college students would experience the same benefits of connectedness.

When college students feel connected with their campus community, they are more likely to stay in school, participate in school, and graduate. If you are looking for ways to increase connection and retention on your campus, you've found it.

Our programs are a great way for students to create connections.
