The way we do our retreats and trainings is we’d find out specifically what you are looking for; learn more about your situation and the needs of the participants. Using that information we create a customized flow of events tailored to fit your specific needs. Then we spell out in detail the recommendations, staying away from “canned” programs so we can best directly target what you’re looking for. The flow is created by drawing from one or more of these tracks depending on your needs:

  • Leadership Awareness

  • Communication/Conflict Management

  • Teambuilding
(including, but not limited to, icebreakers)

  • Presentation/Facilitation training

  • Diversity/Social Justice

Retreats vary in length from 3 hours to 3 days

Two presenters to choose from...

  • Pregnancies

RESEARCH

STUDENT CONNECTION = STUDENT SUCCESS = STUDENT RETENTION

Students are more likely to succeed when they feel a connection to school.  According to Robert W. Blum, school connectedness not only increases the likelihood of academic success, it also reduces the likelihood of student engagement in health-compromising behaviors (Blum, R. W.  A case for school connectedness.  Educational Leadership, April 2005, p. 16-19.)  Blum cites research supporting the belief that student who feel connected to school are less likely to “use substances, exhibit emotional distress, demonstrate violent or deviant behavior, experience suicidal thoughts or attempt suicide and become pregnant” and are more likely to “succeed academically and graduate” (p. 17).  Although Blum’s research deals mostly with adolescents, it is possible and probable that college students would experience the same benefits of connectedness.

When college students feel connected with their campus community, they are more likely to stay in school, participate in school, and graduate.  If you are looking for ways to increase connection and retention on your campus, you’ve found it.   Stende Inspirations, Inc. offers retreats and workshops that fit the mission of creating student connectedness.
